US Seizure of Bingo and Gaming Domains

Although this is not a UK online bingo story I really do believe that it deserves a mention. I can’t help but think about just how lucky we are in the UK, not to have the same fruit-loop anti gaming people in control of the law. This surprise move saw 141 domain names seized and transferred to the account of the complainant in the law suit. The complainant is the Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear.

Freedom of choice is a big deal in my opinion, and in the UK we have the freedom to choose what online bingo site we wish to play. Online bingo operators also have the freedom to decide if they want to operate or not. They are well regulated and do not have to suffer the growing onslaught against online gaming that operators in the US do. One can’t help but think there is some kind of witch hunt going on in the US.

With the introduction of the Unlawful internet Gaming act a short while ago, many online bingo operators went bankrupt, while others moved to provide services to our fairer shores, making a killing in the transition. The online bingo market appears to be open to the world, but narrow minded thinking in the US is restricting the freedom of these operations in the worse possible way.

What makes this even more difficult to understand is that this move comes in the wake of the Barney Frank bill. This bill is to appear before the full house committee for voting and if the bill is passed it will effectively do away with UIEGA. In this instance the Governor of Kentucky would more than likely be overruled in any further court proceedings.
