Daily Mail Online Bingo?
The popularity of playing online bingo is at present unquestionable. With virtually every high street retailer, betting shop, casino, and many others offering this service and entering the industry, it was only a matter of time till the newspapers entered the market. When they did, with sites such as Sun bingo, they immediately became very popular and many newspapers went online to offer bingo services to the UK public. However the “Daily Mail”, in fact this newspaper, up until recently appears to have been waging a war against any form of gambling.
Now, as if unable to keep up with the Joneses, it seems that the Daily Mail has decided that if you can’t beat them you join them. They have launched another online bingo site. I find this difficult to understand, especially if the keep up negative campaigns against gambling in the press. Surely they will be shooting themselves in the foot?
One particular case in point was the Gambling Prevalence Study. While other newspapers were reporting on the bright side of life, indicating that the Study was positive in that online bingo and gambling had not produced a significant increase in problem gambling, the “Mail” reported otherwise, choosing the more gloomy picture painted by the report.
This is not the first time that the Daily Mail has delved into this arena either, they give away scratch cards and bingo cards with their newspapers, and not surprisingly their first attempt at online bingo was shut down because of supposed “dodgy practices”.
Teaming an online bingo sites with a daily newspaper is a good marketing ploy. You have at your hand a tool to market the site to a large majority of the public. But if the Daily mail continues to slander its own practices, one can only think that the right hand does not actually know what the left is doing in this case.
